Joann D. (Zedreck) Duke

Joann D. Duke, age 75, of Cabot, formerly of West Sunbury, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot the morning of February 17, 2026.

Joann was born on July 18, 1950 in Butler.  She was the daughter of the late Henry and Verna Zedreck.  Joann was a retired and proud teacher at Moniteau School district.  She truly loved everything associated with MHS and had a lasting impact on many students throughout the years.  In addition to her teaching duties, she led the high school’s Academic Decathlon team to multiple small school state titles, helped produce multiple musicals throughout the years, sold tickets at multiple sporting events, and after retirement served proudly on the school board for many years.  As an educator, it was her priority to always put education and the students first.  In her spare time, Joann loved working with crafts.  She made rugs, hair bows, Christmas decorations, custom Christmas trees, home decorations, and more.  The joys in her recent years were spending time with her grandsons.

Joann is survived by her two sons, Brian (Alissa) Duke and Tim (Alicia) Duke; two grandsons, Louis Ashley Duke IV and Eli Ashley Duke; a sister, Patricia (Gib) Brandon; and two brothers, Bob (Carleen) Zedreck and Rick (Kim) Zedreck; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband Louis A. Duke III on May 22, 2016.

Family and friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday February 18, 2026 at William F. Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street, West Sunbury and from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm Thursday February 19, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday February 19, 2026 at St. Louis Catholic Church of St. Faustina Parish with Father Sean Francis officiating. Inurnment will be held privately.
